Acting for Stage and Screen BA (Hons)

The goal of our Acting for Stage and Screen degree is to produce skilled actors who can work in all performance mediums, including TV, film, and digital media, as well as theatre. While the emphasis is on acting, the transferable skills gained from an undergraduate arts degree can prepare you for postgraduate study, including teacher training, as well as work in the creative and cultural industries more broadly. Your course will begin with practical acting workshops, followed by classes that will help you develop your critical and evaluative skills. We teach current embodied and psycho-physical acting techniques, drawing on the work of specialists such as Demidov, Chekhov, and Merlin, among others.

• GCE A Levels - grades BBC or equivalent
• Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade DMM
• Access to HE Diploma - Pass Access with a minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points. Applicants to Staffs who are taking the Access to HE Diploma receive a reduced tariff point offer as part of our access and participation plan activity
• UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma - grade of Merit overall
• OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - grade DMM
• T Levels - Eligible T Level applications will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of P (A*-C) or Higher Pass as a condition of offer

This degree will prepare you for a variety of careers in the performing arts. Many of our former students are now working as actors and directors.
Following relevant postgraduate study, our graduates are also successful in related fields such as drama and English teaching, as well as drama therapy. Other drama department graduates are now working as stage managers, youth theatre directors, independent practitioners, arts administrators, and theatre managers.
