Entry Requirements

For the International Foundation program, the university requires five GCSE/iGCSE passes at grades A-C or equivalents. Good high school grades or equivalents are necessary for the International Year One program. As for Pre-Masters, a third-class pass or ordinary degree from a UK university or its equivalent is required.

Foundation and English Language Programmes


For the International Year One program, an IELTS score of 5.5 with no element less than 5.5, or an equivalent qualification from a UKVI Approved Centre, is necessary. As for Pre-Masters, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 with no individual element below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification, is required. (Depending on the course you select, the requirements can vary)


Undergraduate Programmes

Undergraduate programs typically require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0. Some courses, such as health professional courses, may require a score of 6.5 or higher.


Post Graduate Programmes 


For postgraduate taught programs, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or an equivalent qualification is usually required. Although some programs may have different requirements.


It's important to note that students studying below degree level on a Student Route visa must also meet UKVI requirements and have a Secure English Language Test (SELT) taken at an approved center.

Scholarship

Northumbria University offers scholarships and bursaries for full-time international and UK/EU students at their London Campus. The amount of funding depends on nationality, academic achievements, abilities, and chosen program. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and personal statement. Some of the most common ones are:

  • UK/EU students may be eligible for a postgraduate loan from the UK Government.

  • EU students can receive scholarships for Top-Up degrees and postgraduate programs.

  • Merit scholarships are available if eligibility criteria are met.

  • Country-specific scholarships apply to undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
