The history of the university can be traced back to 140 years, where St Katharine's College was established as a Teacher Training College for women. Having merged with several institutes over the years, the Middlesex University attained its university status in 1992.

Entry Requirements

Undergraduates

GCSE Requirements:

For our undergraduate courses, you are normally required to achieve passes in three GCSE subjects, including English, with a score of 4 or Grade C if awarded before 2017. For some courses it may also be necessary to have a score of 4 in other specified subjects such as Maths and Science. With the exception of our teaching courses, we normally accept Level 2 Functional skills or Level 2 Key skills as equivalents.

Postgraduates:

  • Requirements for Master's, MPhil and PhD:

Before you start your application, make sure your previous degree or work experience matches what we need.

  • Work Experience and Previous Study:

If you've already been working or have other learning experience relevant to your chosen course then we can count these towards your entry requirements and some modules when you begin your studies.

  • Master's Degree Requirements:

We usually ask for a second-class honours degree 2:2 or above, or equivalent, in a subject that is relevant to what you want to study.

MPhil and PhD R

equirements:

We usually ask for an honours degree at 2:1 or above or relevant professional experience.

A master's degree in a subject relevant to the course you wish to study is desirable but it isn't always essential.
