Course Details

The Master's degree program at Portsmouth University offers a 12-month full-time program, with a focus on specialized subjects and independent study. The program is expected to be attended by international students. The course structure includes 2-3 days of campus time per week during the university term and some online learning activities. Teaching is more specialized than an undergraduate degree, allowing students to work closely with academics committed to the subject. Independent study and research are more common, but teaching time is primarily in-person and face-to-face. Assessments are conducted through coursework, reports, reflective essays, and exams.
Term dates for the Master's academic year are September to September, with breaks during Christmas and Easter. January-start courses typically run between 14-18 months, beginning in January and ending in spring/summer of the following year. Breaks occur during these periods, and students are expected to write their project/dissertation in the last few months. The full timetable should be received several weeks before starting with Portsmouth University.
