LJMU offers an MSc programme in Marine and Offshore Engineering, preparing students for a successful career in the growing industry. The program, accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), combines marine modules with mechanical engineering options to create a bespoke skills learning set. Students will learn safety analysis, design engineering, structural analysis, maritime law and regulation, quality systems, and alternative energy systems. The course is tailored to meet the needs of the maritime industry and offers two pathways for tailoring the degree to the preferred industry sector. The academic team combines specialist knowledge with industrial experience, ensuring students are well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the growing sector. The program also provides the further learning requirement for Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration.

Entry Requirements
- A lower second class (2:2) or higher honours degree in an engineering discipline.
or
- A lower second class (2:2) or higher honours degree in mathematics or a physical science, together with experience in a field relevant to engineering.
- All applicants must provide evidence of competence in English. The level of English language required should be equivalent to 6.0 for IELTS within the previous 24 months. Equivalents to this score are:
- UK GCSE English grade C or above
- Cambridge Examination Board: Advanced Certificate of English, grade C or above.
Applicants who have studied and successfully achieved a UK Degree programme within the previous 24 months are exempt from the requirements to produce evidence of competence in English.
