Energy Engineering MSc will give you an in-depth understanding of contemporary issues in energy and sustainability and will develop your knowledge of experimental and computer modeling techniques for the design of energy systems, such as electricity grids, thermal energy networks, and transportation systems.

You will study a range of modules, including Data Analytics for Sustainable Energy Systems, Sustainable Energy and Transport, and Power Generation and Transmission. The course is informed by research from the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) so that you develop industry-relevant and up-to-date knowledge and expertise.

This course is suitable for recent graduates from a range of engineering and physical science backgrounds as well as professionals with relevant industry experience.

Entry Requirements

  • You should have the equivalent or above of a 2:2 UK bachelor’s honours degree in a relevant subject

  • If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band (or equivalent) when you start the course is essential.

Course Details

The modules are taught using a combination of lectures, tutorials, and labs. This maintains a healthy balance between theory and practice, enabling a deeper comprehension of real-world issues through the application of solid theoretical and analytical knowledge. During term time, students typically have 72 contact hours per module spread over 6 weeks, or about 12 hours per week over two days. A further 24 hours of independent study and any required assignments should be expected each week.
